
Japanese tyre manufacture Bridgestone on Friday reported its US subsidiary has experienced a ransomware assault, just weeks immediately after suppliers of automaker Toyota Motor claimed very similar attacks.
Bridgestone in a statement mentioned third-bash unauthorised accessibility was created at Bridgestone Americas on February 27, prompting it to shut down its personal computer network. It said it later reconnected the network soon after a thorough safety examine.
An investigation later decided the incident to be a ransomware assault, Bridgestone said.
The announcement arrives about two months immediately after Toyota’s primary supplier, Denso, detected unauthorised obtain by way of a ransomware attack at a group company that handles revenue and engineering in Germany.
Another Toyota supplier was hit by a cyberattack late very last month, prompting Japan’s greatest automaker to shut down domestic creation for one working day on March 1, impacting output of all over 13,000 cars.
